Now let’s get into the Credentialing Specialist role:

  • Reviewing and processing initial MPLT Healthcare applications for locum tenens providers.
  • Re-credentialing existing MPLT Healthcare providers.
  • Primary source verification of physician backgrounds by calling hospitals, licensing boards, medical schools, etc.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate submission of hospital privileging applications for each physician as it relates to each client.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the credentialing progress of each physician.

Your credentialing duties will include:

  • Reaching out to client and provider within 24 hours of being assigned a new file
    • Client – confirm if they issue temporary/emergency privileges and what the guidelines are, verify validity. If temporary/emergency privileges are not offered confirm meeting dates
    • Provider – follow up if MPLT packet if not received, once received outline expectations
  • Completing MPLT internal credentialing checklist in MD Staff as soon as application is received and scrutinizing provider applications and resumes for completion, consistency and accuracy.
    • This includes quickly identifying any discrepancies, gaps of employment and other challenges that could negatively impact our ability to credential a provider.
  • Review MPLT packet and add any additional information into MD Staff
  • Update notes in MD Staff in real-time for all updates and changes
  • Every file should be touched & documented in MD Staff minimally once per week
  • Maintaining consistent communication with Account Manager and Recruiter
    • Looping in Leadership as any issues arise that can affect start date
  • Upload all current supporting documents into MD Staff in real time
  • Ensuring that the Matrix spreadsheet is updated weekly, keeping all files on it until full privileges are granted (if applicable)
  • Maintain communication with facility and follow up after meetings for privilege dates, utilizing Outlook calendar to set yourself reminders
  • Update MD Staff with privilege dates ASAP
  • Running queries, reviewing NPDB reports, and conducting compliance and sanctions monitoring, as well as immediately notifying the recruiter and leaders of negative findings.
  • Mailing, faxing and emailing to obtain verifications, references and other pertinent data from appropriate sources in a timely manner.
  • Working closely with our physicians, client medical staff departments, and any third party groups in order to follow up on outstanding items needed to complete files in a timely manner. This is to ensure that we meet applicable committee meeting dates and targeted start dates.
  • Utilizing MD Staff and keeping it updated in real time with updates, notes and concerns.
  • Responding in a timely manner to all requests from physicians, clients or their medical staff services departments and MPLT Healthcare’s recruiters.

To excel as a Credentialing Specialist, you’ll need to come with:

  • At least two years of experience with medical credentialing processes. Locums experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office skills and experience with a CRM/ATS database.
  • The ability to create reports, analyze data and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • The ability to communicate and discuss information in a professional and sensitive manner with internal and external employees as well as other outside contacts.
